Beach Glass is formed when something glass, of substantial weight, is broken up in the ocean's surf. Over time most pieces are ground down to nuggets of frosted glass. This pendant is a wonderful example of a very old glass. It's about 1/2 inch thick and about 1" long. It is a grey color with a hint of lavender which means that it probably was a part of a very old medicine bottle. In fact the curvature of the glass is still very much evident. It is also somewhat translucent with an earthy texture. This piece is quite a find. It's size, shape, color and thickness lends to the idea that it is likely many decades old, if not over 100 years old. This piece was found on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It is wrapped with silver wire and comes with a nylon sash so that you can immediate enjoy wearing it, but can easily be slid onto a silver chain.
